Concerns that are reported or disclosed in school are taken seriously and the voice of the student is always listened to.

Staff at Derby Pride Academy have a duty of care to report significant concerns about children and young people to other professionals – this is to ensure that children and young people and their families are provided with the support they may need.

In most circumstances this action will be shared with the parent or carer. If, however, it is believed that it is not in the best interests of the child or young person or puts them more at risk, Derby Pride Academy may refer to other professionals without consent. This decision will always be recorded at time of referral for further reference.

If you are unable to contact school or would prefer not to, safeguarding concerns can be reported to social care professionals at:

Derby City Council Children’s Social Care:

01332 641172 between 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday

01332 956606 for out of hours.

Non urgent advice from the Police is available on 101
